Wine Tasting- Cape d’ Estaing
Wine: Cape d’Estaing
Variety: Shiraz
Region: Kangaroo Island
Country: Australia
Variety: 2003
Price: $40.00
Critic Review: This is a gorgeous, fully mature Oz
shiraz that is both balanced and very interesting. Still very dark, but showing
some bricking garnet on the rim. Nose is intense, and full of secondary notes -
fig, tobacco, black olive, with just a tinge of sweet plum or currant fruit.
Palate is full bodied, ripe and mouth-filling, dry with lots of sweet black
cherry and blackberry fruit. Notes of fig and tobacco on the long finish as
well. This is delicious and drinking very well.
My Review:
When I smelled this wine, I could tell that it was probably
aged in oak barrels. This oak smell and flavor took over the wine for me. Again,
not a big fan of reds, so not my favorite. I did not eat while drinking this
wine.
